NEW DELHI
Former Asian Tour regular Amandeep Johl, who has been coaching actively in Delhi for some years now will be the first Indian professional to test his mettle on the US Senior pro circuit. He is headed this week to the USA to play a few qualifying tournaments around Florida.
Said Amandeep “My plan is to sharpen the game and get ready to compete once again. Felt if I spent 2-3 months in the USA, maybe play a few events and practise at a good facility it would help .
I reached out to Jared Steger, who was attached to the International Junior Golf Academy earlier . Had met him during his visit to India. Now he lives in Chicago, Jared was a huge help in guiding me where to base myselF, find a fitness coach etc .
Through Ernie Els’ very close dear friends Raj Krishnaswamy and Vikash Salig, I got playing facilities at Bear Lakes and Turtle Creek Golf Club in the Jupiter area of West Palm Beach , Florida .
Anirban Lahiri lives close by in PGA National. I shall get to play practice with some PGA Tour players and Champions Tour players.“
Amandeep’s Schedule for the first Month :
Pre Qualifier for the Mitsubishi Electric Classic , in Atlanta 07 May
US Open pre Qualifier Near Orlando on 17th May .
US Senior Open qualifier at Fort Myers, FL on 25th May.
Play few mini tour events in between.
We wish him all the best and hope he blazes a trail for more Indians to follow suit.
