Pro Golf – Japan Golf Tour
42-year-old former winner on the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), Rahil Gangjee recorded his first top 10 finish of the season in Japan when he shot 69-66-72 (9-under 207) at the US$ 720,000 Gateway to The Open Mizuno Open.
Rahil added US$ 13,600 (₹9.8 lakh) to his season earnings while making a sixth cut in seven starts since his return to Japan last month. Gangjee started the final round with two birdies and moved to 2nd position but subsequently dropped back to 8th. Had he finished 2nd, he would have qualified for one of the two spots available in the (British) Open Championship in July.
His T-10th finish in Japan moved him to 52nd on the Japan Tour’s Money List from 61st last week. Talking about his week, Gangjee told Indian Golf Weekly, “All in all a great week. Wish today’s putts had dropped like yesterday. But I’m still quite happy about the top 10. Hope to carry this forward to next week.”
Rahil is going to play the US$ 1.3mn event in Ibaraki this week.
