Over 200 golfers are expected to participate in the Telangana Premiere Golf League (TPGL) at Hyderabad Golf Association Course from September 12 to October 9. The event sponsored by Sreenidhi University,a leading educational institution in Hyderabad is intended to foster the sport by providing a friendly, fair and well-managed opportunity to play.
The Hyderabad Golf course is a project by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation and the Hyderabad Golf Association, located at iconic Golconda Fort, it has already won the National Tourism Award twice as the “Best Tourism Friendly Golf course”. It is an eco-friendly golf course which is totally irrigated using treated sewage from a unique root-zone sewerage treatment system.
Leagues, organised by golf clubs have been a major driver of the amateur game in India in recent years. After the initial success of the Royal Premier League 5 years ago at Royal Calcutta GC, club leagues have been conducted in KGA and Bangalore GC, Pune, Mumbai and now soon to be held in Delhi GC ( late October) and Hyderabad.
