The two-time Olympian, Aditi Ashok of Bangalore qualified for the US$ 4.5mn Women’s British Open after carding an impressive 2-under 68 to grab the second place at the qualifier on Monday at Panmure Golf Club in Scotland.
The qualifier offered 15 spots and Aditi’s 68 was just one short of the American Lindsey Weaver, who finished at the top in the 18-hole qualifier.
The Women’s British Open is scheduled for August 19-22 at Carnoustie Links in Scotland.
The Open will be Aditi’s 19th major appearance, the most for any Indian (men or women) and her fourth major start of the season. Her best finish in a major, tied-22nd came at the 2018 edition of the tournament at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.
Not so long ago, Aditi had everyone on their toes from early morning to watch her final round at the Tokyo Olympics, where she missed out on a medal by whiskers.
Tvesa Malik, the other Indian in the field shot 3-over 73 to finish tied-29th and missed out on grabbing one of the spot.
Panmure the 16th oldest golf course in the world, came to life in 1845 and has hosted the Open qualifiers on many past occassions.
