Now Aman Gupta, a 22-year-old Indian American, has turned pro after reaching the semi finals at the 2020 US Amateur Championships and made 3 cuts in his first 4 starts. This week he made the cut at the DP World Tour’s Cazoo Classic in England but had a mediocre weekend and finished a lowly 61st with rounds of 68-76-74-72 for a total of 2-over par.
Gupta, who played for three years at the powerful Oklahoma State University golf team, turned professional in May.
In Nov. 2021, Aman Gupta was expected to represent India at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Yas Links, Abu Dhabi, based on his Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status. However, he later committed to play another college event during the same week instead. He was born in South Carolina and his father, Kapil, hails from Amritsar, while his mother is from Mumbai.
