23 year old Seher Atwal of New Delhi, who was 2nd in her previous two events, took her 2nd career title on the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour (HWPGT) , leading from start to finish with rounds of 70-70-72 for a total of 4-under 212 at Prestige Golfshire in Bangalore. In a nail biting final round , Seher who had fallen two back after the front 9 holes, birdied the final hole to stay one ahead of Neha Tripathi and Nayanika Sanga and two ahead of Sneha Singh who had been tied for the lead with two holes to play.
Seher, who is supported by Chennai based Cholamandalam Finance, and incidentally is PGA Tour winner Arjun Atwal’s niece, moved to second on the Hero Order of Merit with ₹6,91,500, behind leader Pranavi Urs, who has won four times and earned ₹9,90,500 this season. In 2022, Atwal has registered seven top-10s and had two runner-up finishes prior to breaking through last week.
17 year old Sneha Singh of Hyderabad playing her 2nd week as a professional shot 71-71-72 (2-under 214) and favourite Pranavi Urs of Mysore 76-69-70 (1-under 215) finished fourth and fifth respectively in Bangalore. Both girls are supported by the Mumbai based multi national company AllCargo Logistics.
The Hero WPGT Tour will take a five week break before returning for its 11th event of 2022 from Aug.30-Sep.2 at Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club in Hyderabad.
