Rory McIlroy returns to World No. 1

the very popular Northern Irishman is back where he belongs

Crowd Favourite Rory McIlroy ascended to the top of the world rankings for the 9th time in his career as he successfully defended his US$ 10.5mn CJ Cup title – this time played in South Carolina instead of South Korea, last week. 

This was the 33 year-old’s 23rd PGA Tour title and he replaced 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler of USA at the top of the World Rankings.

The last time Rory was at No 1 was in July 2020 and  other  times Rory hit No.1 were – 

  • Mar. 2012 
  • April 2012 – 
  • Aug. 2012 – after winning the PGA Championship by 8 shots 
  • Aug. 2014
  •  Aug-Sep. 2015
  • Feb 2020
