The 19th edition of the Madhav Rao Scindia Golf Tournament was played at its permanent home, the DLF Golf & CC in Gurgaon, on Oct. 29th. The tournament, which was first held in 2002, featured participation from 115 corporate and business leaders, who played individually on net scores with the top two winning invitations for the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Cup at Windsor Castle, London and the runners up qualifying for the International Pairs in Spain.
To make the event more fun, pro Sneha Singh played a “Beat the Pro” contest on the famous par three 16th hole and several on-course contests kept the participants on their toes.
The format allowed for adjustment of handicaps on the Double Peoria system based on 12 randomly selected holes that were picked out of a hat during lunch in front of all the contestants.
The event ended with the traditional Gala lunch hosted by Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia, the Chief Guest, and Priya Raje Scindia.
The tournament has been selected for the 9th consecutive year as one of the top charity tournaments in the world so the two winners are invited to the Duke of Ediburgh Charity Golf Cup World Finals each year to join winners of other selected charity golf tournaments from around the world. The experience includes a round of golf at the private course of the Royal Household on the grounds of Windsor Castle and a black tie champagne sit down dinner in the Grand Ballroom of Windsor Castle with a member of the Royal family.
The International Pairs – where the runners up in the two handicap categories play will see players from around 25 countries assemble in Spain for a World Final.

The Madhav Rao Scindia Golf Tournament raises funds for education and medical care of underprivileged families in the Gwalior region, and also supports one promising young Indian pro golfer each year.
This year the foundation awarded a Rs 5 lacs grant to Sneha Singh, the 17-year-old, four-time winner on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour. Singh turned pro in July and has finished inside the top-5 in every single event she has played. Earlier this month, she shot 7-under 281 to win the Ladies European Tour’s (LET) Stage 1 Qualifier event which gets her into the LET Final qualifying in Spain in December.
In the past, the MadhavRao Scindia Foundation has presented similar awards at the start of their pro careers to such stand out Indian players such as Mysore’s Pranavi Urs, who is headed to USA for the final stage of the LPGA Qualifiers, PGTI Order of Merit winners Rashid Khan & Chikkarangappa, Olympian Diksha Dagar, and 2016 All India Amateur champion Arjun Prasad.
