The two-time All India Champion Aryan Roopa Anand to head the Indian men’s contingent in Australia

India’s top two lady and men amateurs will start the New Year on a positive note with back to back top class highly competitive Amateur events in Australia.

India’s top two ranked amateur girls – Avani Prashanth of Bangalore and Nishna Patel from Mumbai along with Aryan Roopa Anand of Bangalore and Shaurya Bhattacharya of Delhi will first play the Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship at Southern Golf Club, in Melbourne followed by The Australian Amateur Championship which takes place at New South Wales and St Michael’s Golf Clubs across the opening two rounds before concluding at NSW GC on the outskirts of Sydney.

Avani Prashanth of Bangalore has solidified her presence far too many times in the past too

Addition of the two-time All India Ladies Champion Avani Prashanth will add much needed fire power in Australia

Both events carry a strong weightage of World Amateur Golf Ranking points and we hope the Indian stars will perform well to earn enough points to raise their world rankings further and thereby get entry into some bigger global amateur events as the year progresses.

In subsequent weeks, IGU will be fielding squads for major international events like the Asia Pacific Women’s Amateur ( Queen Sirikit Cup) being held in Philippines from Feb 22-25th and Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific ( WAAP) being held at Singapore Island Country Club (New Course)  from March 9-12th.

The Huangzhou Asian Games which has been postponed from 2022, will be staged in September 2023 and will feature mens and womens golf competitions.
