Shubhankar Sharma who was coming off a creditable 7th place finish last week in Abu Dhabi, missed a 3 foot putt on the last green to disappointingly miss the cut by one shot at the US$ 9mn Hero Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates GC.
However Shubhankar did not disappoint a group of Juniors who he had flown into Dubai to watch the tournament as a reward for being winners at the annual Shubhankar Sharma Junior Invitational which has been held in a few locations around India with the winners being promised a special prize. The kids were able to watch some of the best players in the world and even had the thrill of meeting some of them. A great gesture from the 26 year old Shubhankar who at the start of his career is already giving back to the game in India.
Here’s a photo of them with Padraig Harrington at the venue.
The winners of the @shubhankargolf Invitational had a great time at the @DubaiDCGolf, including this meeting with the legendary @padraig_h.
The first thing Padraig told the kids… “Increase your swing speed. Fairways are over-rated!”@DPWorldTour @pgtofindia pic.twitter.com/TcpJBv4kFF
