16-year-old Mannat Brar of Chandigarh showcased her golfing prowess by shooting a remarkable final day 65 to add to her first two day scores of 69-70 to secure a narrow two stroke victory over Mysore’s Vidhatri Urs in the IGU Ladies Amateur at Clover Greens Golf Resort on the outskirts of Bangalore.
Curiously, as one hole at Clover Greens was closed for repairs, players had to repeat one of the holes to complete all 18 in each round. Perhaps the first time an IGU national ranking event has been held on a course with only 17 holes open.
Mannat, a student at St. Kabir’s Public School in Chandigarh, was also victorious at the NCR Cup at Delhi Golf Club, with scores of 75-72-71 (total 2-over 218), and continues to solidify her reputation as a lady amateur star.
In the Junior Girls Category B, Alysha Dutt impressed with scores of 66-70-70 (total 1-under 206) followed closely by Saanvi Somu of Bangalore, who shot 70-70-67 (Even-par 207).
In the Junior Girls Category C, Guntas Kaur Sandhu emerged victorious by a notable five-stroke margin, shooting an aggregate score of 69-72-71 (5-over 212). Shambhavi Chaturvedi, who scored 78-69-70 (10-over 217), finished 2nd.
