13-year-old Kartik Singh is the second-best Indian on the WAGR

Indian prodigy, 13 year old Kartik Singh has made Indian golf history by being the first Indian ever to be invited to compete in the highly competitive US Junior Amateur Championship, widely regarded as the pinnacle event in junior golf taking place at the prestigious Daniel Club Island GC in South Carolina from July 24 to 29, 2023.

Kartik will also be the youngest player in the tournament which is open to players under the age of 19.

The US Junior Amateur attracts the finest young golfing talents from around the globe, with 264 players under the age of 19 competing for the coveted title. The competition follows a demanding format, commencing with 36 holes of stroke play over two days. The top 64 scores advance to the match play knock out rounds, which span four days. A gruelling 36-hole final match held on a single day awaits the top two.

Kartik’s standing as the 45th-ranked player under 19 years in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), enabled his invitation. In fact, Kartik currently holds the second highest WAGR ranking by any Indian, behind only Dubai-based Indian Rayhan Thomas who has just completed four years of college golf in USA.

In addition to the US Junior Amateur, Kartik has also received invitations to participate at three prestigious World Championships to be held in USA in July 2023. They are: –

  1. IMG Academy World Junior Golf Championship, Torrey Pines, San Diego, USA (11 – 13 Jul 23)
  2. FCG Callaway World Junior Golf Championship, Desert Springs, San Diego, USA (17 – 19 Jul 23)
  3. US Teens World Championship, Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA (27 – 29 Jul 23)

Having dominated his age category on the IGU’s National Junior Golf circuit by winning seven out of seven tournaments last year, Kartik will look to test himself against the best in the world this summer in USA.
