23rd annual Chola World Corporate Challenge kicks off

Over 100 corporate golfers will tee off this weekend in the first of four regional rounds of the 23rd annual edition of the Chola World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) at Prestige Golfshire in Bangalore. Four players, comprising two winners and runners-up respectively in two handicap categories, will earn their places in the national final scheduled for April 2024 in Thailand.

From the National final, the two ultimate winners will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent the Indian corporate golf community at the WCGC World Final in Spain during the summer of 2024 where they will face winners from similar qualifying events in 30 other countries.

India’s impressive track record over the past decade at the World Final includes championship wins in 2008 and 2015, as well as runner-up positions in 2010, 2011, and 2014. WCGC stands as the largest international corporate golf team event worldwide, encompassing the participation of over 7,500 corporate executives from 30 different countries. India entered the WCGC back in 2000 and the event stands as the longest continuously running multi-city corporate event in the country.

Several prestigious corporate entities support this years event including Audi, Savills, Grant Thornton, Palo Alto Networks and Harley-Davidson. 

Winners of the 2022 edition, Ajay Reddy of Hyderabad and Ajay Kasana of New Delhi recently travelled to Tenerife, Spain for the World Final from Oct. 2-6.

A new feature of the event are the pre-tournament networking dinners being held the evening prior to each regional round at the JW Marriott, UB City in Bangalore, The Trident Nariman Point in Mumbai, The Delhi Golf Club in Delhi and The Westin Mindspace in Hyderabad.

This year will also see the introduction of live scoring on mobile phones, which adds to the excitement of the competition while making the results more transparent and instantly available to all.
