With Indian cricket legend and PGTI Vice-President Kapil Dev playing tournament host, a number of cricketers including Yuvraj Singh, Michael Bevan, Ajit Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh and others were seen mingling with PGTI pro golfers as the 2nd edition of the KDGT event was held at DLF G&CC, Gurgaon.
The tournament offered Rs 2 crore – double the prize money of 2022 and 23-year-old Karan Pratap Singh seized the opportunity to pick up his 2nd title of 2023 with rounds of 68-71-70 to win by two strokes in the tournament which was cut to 54 holes due to poor morning visibility during the week of the tournament.
Karan entered the final round, trailing the seasoned Rashid Khan, the overnight leader by a shot and added a final round 70 to lift the trophy by a two-shot margin over the trio of Kevin Esteve Rigaill of Andorra, Rashid and home favourite Sunhit Bishnoi, who finished joint runners-up at 5-under par.
Karan earned ₹30 lacs for his win, which pushed him to a second spot on the tour’s Money List.
Karan missed most of the 2022 season due to a knee injury but despite being awarded a medical exemption, he entered the PGTI Q-School where he finished second improving his entry status for 2023. There has been no looking back for the lanky Karan, who is showing great promise.
Several top players were missing from this edition of the KDGT due to them vying for Asian Tour top 60 positions, including DLF GC based Veer Ahlawat and Kartik Sharma, SSP Chawrasia and Ajeetesh Sandhu.
Gaganjeet Bhullar, who played KDGT 2022, had taken a break to prepare for his upcoming LIV Golf promotions event in Abu Dhabi from Dec. 8-10.

The event saw a number of off-course activities like a talk by leadership guru Shiv Khera and others, while the pro-am during the final round gave amateurs a chance to play alongside pros playing the main event. Lady pros were invited to join in the Sunday pro-am after the tournament was over.
