Former PGA Tour player Anirban Lahiri marked the start of his third season on the LIV Golf Tour with a final round 67 which propelled his team to a 2nd place finish and boosted him upto 21st individually at Mayakoba in Mexico.
Lahiri carded rounds of 71-73-67 for a total score of 2-under 213. His team, the Crushers, led by long hitting Bryson DeChambeau and consisting of Charles Howell III and Paul Casey, totaled 20-under par to finish runner-up by four strokes to the newly added team, Legion XIII, captained by Jon Rahm. Rahm’s team includes new signees PGA TOUR winner Tyrrell Hatton, World No.2 amateur Caleb Surrat, and Scott Vincent, who previously played for Iron Heads in 2023.
Lahiri further added US$ 375,000 in team earnings out of the US$ 1.5 million his team earned for the runner-up finish, and with his individual prize totalled US$ 586,000 for the week. It’s a solid start to the season for Lahiri.
LIV is this week at Las Vegas and has cleverly scheduled it to coincide with the Superbowl ( American football finals) and has thereby attracted several celebrities to play the pro-am. Lahiri will next play in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong in early March when the LIV Tour returns after a short break.
