New faces at IGU Eastern India Men’s Amateur

The historic IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship-2024, which has shifted from its traditional date in December, now to May, was played at The RCGC , Kolkata this week.

New names surfaced in the finals being contested between Kanav Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh and Manoviraj Shekawat of Rajasthan. Neither player has won anything significant previously in their careers and as the new IGU National Amateur Tour has just started, it remains to be seen how these players perform the rest of the season. 

In the 1st Semi Finals, the son of legendary two-time Asian Games Gold Medalist Lakshman Singh,  Arjun Singh from RCGC lost to Kanav 3&1. 

While in the 2nd Semi Finals,  Shekawat of Rajasthan prevailed over Manoj of Karnataka by 2 & 1. 

Kanav is currently Ranked 46th on the IGU Rankings and his best performance has been winning the 2023 IGU East India Juniors. 

While Manoviraj Shekawat is Ranked 48th on the IGU Amateur Men’s Tour and his best performance has been in Chandigarh at the Samarvir Sahi Amateur.
