Three weeks ago, at the PGA Championship in Kentucky, World No 1 Scottie Scheffler was arrested as he drove into the venue for Rd 2 for a traffic violation and charged criminally.

Thanks to public outrage and Scheffler’s graceful handling of the situation, this week prosecutors finally dropped all criminal charges against him, bringing to an end a strange and weird saga.
After the charges were dropped, Scheffler bravely said on social media that he didn’t hold any ill will toward the detective who arrested him.
“I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same,” Scheffler said. “Police officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.”
The whole episode has left the world wondering how such a bizarre situation came to pass and whether a world no 1 golfer should have been accorded more respect and recognition which would have spared the police force so much embarrassment.
