The International Golf Federation announced this week that Ladies European Tour (LET) winners Diksha Dagar of Jhajjar, Haryana and Aditi Ashok of Bangalore, Karnataka, have qualified for the Olympics thanks to their world rankings for the women’s competition at the Paris Olympics, played August 7-10 at Le Golf National, the same course that hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup.
Diksha and Aditi secured their Olympic spots by being ranked 25th and 41st respectively, on the latest Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR) during the qualification period between June 2022 -June 2024.
The duo last represented India at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where Aditi Ashok missed out on a bronze medal by one shot during the 72-hole stroke-play tournament.
According to the qualification rules, the top 15 players from the OGR qualify for the Olympics, with a maximum of four athletes per country. Beyond that, up to two eligible players per country can qualify, provided there are not already two or more golfers from that country in the top 15. The field will be 60 players only and the competition is played over four days of stroke-play with no halfway cut.
