15-year-old Kartik Singh of Gurgaon, playing the prestigious Junior Players Championship at the iconic TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, finished tied 3rd with rounds of 71-73-68 for a 4-under 212 total. Kartik missed joining the sudden death playoff by just two strokes, despite his final round 68.
Kartik’s strong performance comes at an opportune time as he prepares to compete in the Junior Presidents Cup in Canada this month, followed by the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship in Japan in October. At 176th on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Kartik is the highest-ranked Indian amateur in 2024, with three wins and eight top-10 finishes in 13 events this year.
The Junior Players championship featured 78 of the best juniors from around the world and Kartik’s 3rd place finish is probably the best performance of his fledgling career thus far.
