WGAI: Vani breaks her own record with win no. 32

Delhi’s 31-year-old Vani Kapoor added to her record of the most no. of wins in Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (HWPGT) history, by securing win no. 32 in Mumbai last week. Vani, who was #1 on the tour from 2014-2016, secured the title by the narrowest of margins in the fourth leg of the 2025 tour at the challenging Bombay Presidency Golf Club in Mumbai . 

Vani’s final-round 69 (-1) brought her total to 1-over 211, enough to claim a one-shot win. Amateur Saanvi Somu, who had led after the second round, faltered in the closing stretch and finished tied for third at 3-over, alongside tournament favorites Sneha Singh of Hyderabad and Ridhima Dilawari of Delhi, who shot 66 and 67 respectively in the final round. 

4 amateurs finished in the top-10 with Pune’s Mannat Brar securing eighth place at 7-over 217, and Keerthana Rajiv rounding off the amateur performance with a final score of 10-over 220 at tied-10th. Two of the four amateurs, Saanvi and Mannat, are in Vietnam this week for the 7th Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Golf Championship from March 6-9.

Finishing tied-third in Mumbai and a two-time winner already this season, Sneha continues to lead the HWPGT Rankings with total winnings of ₹5,76,900. Vani’s victory pushed her to second place with ₹4,54,000, while Jasmine Shekar holds third with ₹3,26,500.

The tour moves to Delhi NCR this week, with Leg 5 taking place at the ITC Classic Golf and Country Club from March 4-7, followed by the first-ever Women’s Celebrity Pro-am Golf event, set to take place on Women’s Day, March 8th. Hosted by Queens of Golf in partnership with the Women’s Golf Association of India, the event aims to celebrate and empower women golfers while raising awareness and support for their professional journeys.
