Brooks Koepka
28-year-old Brooks Koepka is having a year to remember. Following a successful defense of his U.S. Open title, the Florida native clinched the PGA Championship—his third Major win—in August. 70 days on, he triumphed at THE CJ CUP (October 18-21) by four strokes. Now in its second edition, the US$9.5 million PGA TOUR event was at Nine Bridges Golf Club, Jeju Island (South Korea).

The win meant men’s professional golf has a new number one atop the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) as Koepka replaced compatriot Dustin Johnson.
“To be No. 1 is something I’ve dreamed of as a kid,” Koepka was quoted as saying. “I don’t think this one is going to sink in.”
Brooks Koepka, who turned professional in 2012, now has five wins on the PGA TOUR—three of them being Majors. His first triumph was back in 2015 when he beat compatriots Ryan Palmer and Bubba Watson and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama by one stroke at the Phoenix Open. Besides the Majors, Koepka has one win on the European Tour too, when he edged England’s Ian Poulter (again by a stroke) to win the Turkish Airlines Open in 2014.
