Debut U.S. Kids Golf India a Success

One could not have asked for more in the last event of the inaugural edition of the U.S. Kids Golf India Tour at Classic Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon on January 31.
With the sun playing hide and seek throughout the day, and a stiff breeze accompanying, the conditions seemed tough. It hardly seemed to have any effect on the 96 young golfers who had lined up though. The top golfer in each category also stands a chance to qualify for this year’s U.S. Kids World Championship, European Championship and the Teen World Championship.

Shiv Kapur lauds Juniors

Little Master Junior Golf Tour organised the Inaugural Shiv Kapur Junior Golf Challenge at Delhi Golf Club for young boys aged 5-18. The tournament witnessed a promising turnout with as many as 49 players taking part across four age categories. Barring the youngest age group, all other groups played 18 holes. Winners of each division also received a special prize from Shiv Kapur himself.

Pranavi to play prestigious Invitational

Promising Mysuru teenager Pranavi Urs has commenced 2019 with a bang. Over the course of successfully defending of her Faldo Junior title at Jaypee Greens in January, the 15-year-old impressed onlookers. Her game and skill didn’t go unnoticed as she was personally invited by six-time major winner Sir Nick Faldo to join his team for the second edition of Major Champions Invitational tournament in Florida (March 4-8).

The event will see legends like Jack Nicklaus, Annika Sorenstam and Sir Nick Faldo, to name a few, captain their respective teams, each of which comprises four junior players (two boys/two girls).

Teenager Bhatia to make PGA TOUR debut

Akshay Bhatia, the 17-year-old Indo-American, is on a roll in 2019. The lad who plans to skip college golf to focus on becoming a professional soon has set himself a challenging plan but things are looking good.

Following his win at Jones Cup, Bhatia received an invitation to RSM Classic which will be held in November. But before that, he will be making his PGA TOUR debut at Valspar Championship (March 21-24).
The North Carolina resident’s resume includes several impressive junior titles—the AJGA’s Rolex Tournament of Champions and Polo Golf Junior Classic, the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley—but this was the lefty’s first in a national amateur tournament after winning the AJGA’s player of the year honour in 2018.
