Tvesa makes it to two on the Tour
23-year-old Gurugram golfer Tvesa Malik shot successive rounds of 72, 71 and 70 to achieve a winning score of 213, one better than the runnerup 23-year-old Millie Saroha from Noida, at the eighth leg of WPGT at Prestige Golfshire, Bengaluru. Tvesa became the third player this season, after Ridhima Dilawari and Gaurika Bishnoi, to win twice this season. Tvesa had earlier won the third leg, while Ridhima and Gaurika had two wins each in the last four events. Millie, however, continues her search for her first win.
Gaurika wins 7th leg of Hero WPG Tour
The seventh leg of this year’s Hero WPG Tour played at the Clover Greens, Bengaluru, was bigger and better than ever before. The total prize money amounted to INR 10 lakh, the highest in the history of the tour and there was a 29 women field in play (26 pros and 3 amateurs). 20-year-old Gurugram golfer Gaurika Bishnoi started the final round four shots behind the overnight leader Gursimar Badwal, staging a fine rally to register her second win of the season on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.
Gaurika’s 67 saw her total eight-under 208, which was three clear of amateur Pranavi Urs, who registered the second 66 of the tournament. Overall winner Gaurika and Amandeep, the winner of the previous two events at Clover Greens, were the only players to play all three rounds under par.
Astha Madan (72) was seventh at one-over 217, while amateur Asmitha Sathish (72) and Ananya Datar (72) were tied-eighth. Neha Tripathi (72) and Millie Saroha (75) were tied-10th.
Aditi T-39 at US Women’s Open
21-year-old Bengalurean and the only Indian woman golfer on the LPGA Tour, Aditi Ashok shot rounds of 72, 71, 75 and 71 for a total score of 5-over 289 for a T-39 finish at the 75th edition of the US Women’s Open. The tournament, with prize money amounting to $5,000,000, was played at the Country Club of Charleston, South Carolina from May 30 to June 2.
Aditi also stood T-36 at the $2,000,000 Meijer LPGA Classic (June 13-16) at Blythefield Country Club, where she stood T-5 at 8-under, after her second-round of 65, that closed with an eagle on 18th. She slipped to T-38 with a two-over 74 in the third round and a 2-under 70 in the final round helped her close at T-36.
Her best finish at a major was T-22 at the 2018 Women’s British Open and this was her best finish at the US Women’s Open. Aditi is currently ranked 131 in the world and will have to persevere through the rest of the season to retain her LPGA card.
