DLF Golf & Country Club becomes the first golf course in India to host APGS

The Asia Pacific Golf Summit, one of the most influential business international conferences on the knowledge and business of golf hosted by DLF Golf & Country Club, Gurugram concluded today.

APGS 2019, the 13th edition in the annual series, assembled a stellar cast of international speakers who discussed various operational and business aspects of golf in the context of the Summit’s theme which was “A 5G Mindset For Golf’s Future In Asia”.

Day one saw insights exchanged on Golf Clubs being alive and healthy wherein Michel Leemhuis, Managing Director, The Country Club, USA spoke of the club trends worldwide. He stated that the golf clubs which are successful are the ones who are constantly innovating and keeping the members engaged. In terms of trends- HR, food and beverage, health and wellness are the top three parameters.
Day two had a power-packed morning, with discussions on women golfers. Ms Champika Sayal, Secretary-General, WGAI spoke of women’s career choices when it comes to the golf industry. She said, “It is really delightful to see how far we have come, there are young girls joining from different parts of India, states like Assam and Gujarat. These girls are learning golf at the best of the facilities like DLF Golf Academy. I am quite hopeful about their growth and I am confident that in times to come they will leave quite an impression as avid women golfers”

Speaking on the occasion, Aakash Ohri, Sr Executive Director, DLF Home Developers, said, “Indian Golf has come a long way in these two decades and with a motivation to achieve a brighter future, we are hosting APGS-2019 which is a milestone achievement in the history of Golf in India. I congratulate all the members and stakeholders of Golf fraternity and players that have brought laurels to our nation.”
