Organized adhering to strict COVID-19 heath advisories and protocols to ensure safety of the players, India’s biggest charity sports tournament witnessed the participation from 120 golfers. Top corporate honchos such as Kaushik Shaparia (CEO – Deutsche Bank), John Wilcox (CEO – Navnit Group), Tarun Rai, CEO – Wunderman Thompson (JWT), Sampath Kumar (Group Head – HDFC Bank), Jaggy Shivdasani (CEO – Airtravel) and other prominent personalities from India’s leading businesses participated in the tournament to express solidarity with the cause. Professional golfer Kunal Bhasin and young golfers Ananya Datar, Arhaan Nath and Aryaan Nath also played alongside the golfers.

“With each passing day, we all find ourselves trying to adapt to the measures required to combat the spread of COVID-19. Our homes have become the frontline defence against the COVID-19 pandemic. But for many, a safe and affordable home remains elusive. That’s why Habitat for Humanity India’s work is important now more than ever. We are thankful to all the golfers who took their time out and played Golf in support of Habitat for Humanity. In times such as this, citizen social responsibility is as important as corporate social responsibility,” said Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India.

The golf tournament serves to highlight the work of Habitat for Humanity and in turn, create awareness among a key demographic group to highlight the plight of those in need of decent shelter in India. The previous two editions received overwhelming response from the golfers and business leaders making it one of the flagship charity tournament in the country.

The proceeds from the past editions of the tournament were used to provide water wheels to 100 families in Raigad district, Maharashtra and to build homes for four families of martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. Proceeds from this year’s Charity Golf Tournament will help Habitat for Humanity India in building Covid-19 care centres and homes for martyrs’ families in Maharashtra.

“We have all grown up believing that roti, kapda and makaan are the most fundamental needs of every human being. Still millions of families in India do not have a decent roof over their heads. The Habitat Charity Golf Tournament is a way of building a decent shelter for vulnerable families in the country”, said Rajeev Menon, Trustee, Habitat for Humanity India.
