Golf Course Continues Plantation Drive

Continuing its green initiative, the Jammu Tawi Golf Course management—in collaboration with Mahindra Finance Company (MFC)—held a plantation drive at their golf course late September. The management appreciated the team of MFC headed by HR Manager, Syed Meesan Raza, for donating 200 trees of different species to Jammu Tawi Golf Course. A noble cause that will go a long way in helping preserve the environment.

One of the country’s finest, Oxford Golf Resort was recognised as the ‘Best Course in India’ at the Asian Golf Awards 2018. The ceremony was held on November 3 in Bangkok and golf legend Greg Norman was among those in attendance. “We’re honoured to have won this title… We look forward to keeping Pune’s flag flying in the golf industry.

We’ve been able to achieve this distinction due to the unwavering trust and support of our patrons and wellwishers, and we hope to keep delivering trained golf professionals for the years to come,” said Anil Seolekar (Chairman, Oxford Golf Resort) who received the award along with Neelam Seolekar (Director, Oxford Golf Resort).

Southern Star Training Area & Sports Complex played host to Army Cdr’s Cup Golf Tournament on October 27-28. The event witnessed enthusiastic attendance with 223 golfers teeing off, including seven ladies and three children.
At 87, Maj Gen PK Joglekar, PVSM (Retd) was the oldest participant. Capt Rajiv Pusalkar (Retd) won the Army Cdr’s Cup with a gross score of 69.

Hamoni To Organise Carnival

Following the success of the inaugural Winter Golf Carnival in 2017, Hamoni Golf Camp is set to host the second edition this month. The Carnival is an initiative to bring leading golf brands who can then display and promote equipment, merchandise and accessories. Participating brands include Callaway, Cleveland Golf, FootJoy, Golf Garage India, Mizuno, Srixon, Titleist and XXIO.

Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah inaugurated the 7th JKGA Autumn Golf Odyssey at Pahalgam Golf Course on October 20. The second leg of the two-day event, jointly organized by Department of Tourism Kashmir and J&K Golf Association, took place the following day at Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar. Over 100 golfers from across the country took part and also in attendance was ace golfer and three-time Asian Tour winner Shiv Kapur.

Home to a couple of prestigious Asian and European Tour professional tournaments, DLF Golf & Country Club won the coveted Asia Pacific Order of Zenith by Asia Pacific Golf Group at the Asian Golf Awards. The ceremony—which witnessed attendance by delegates from over 22 countries—was part of the 2018 Asia Pacific Golf Summit, staged from November 1-3 in Bangkok. DLF Golf & Country Club also won ‘Best Locker Room’ award while Aakash Ohri, Senior Executive Director of DLF5, was announced Asia Pacific Personality of the Year.

The 5th Amateur Ladies Golf Championship was played in Noida Golf Course on November 14-15. The tournament was a two-day Gross event and in the first day had a Stableford round as well.

Around 90 ladies from across India participated. Golfers from clubs such as Air Force Golf Course, Army Golf Course, Chandigarh Golf Course, Delhi Golf Club, DLF Golf & Country Club, Jaypee Greens Golf Course, Qutab Golf Course and Royal Calcutta Golf Course among others bonded over their common love for the game.
Among the participants was 14-year-old Anika Varma, currently India’s No. 1 Amateur Lady Golfer, who was declared Champion of the tournament.
