World No. 123 Gaganjeet Bhullar made his best efforts to claim a second European Tour title at the $1.2 million Magical Kenya Open (Mar. 14-17) at Karen Country Club, Nairobi only settle for fifth place.

The 30-year-old shot rounds of 65, 70, 68 and 66— for a total score of 14-under 270— and finished just two shots behind eventual winner Guido Migliozzi of Italy. He pocketed $52,911 (approx. Rs 36.5 lakh) for his efforts. Chikkarangappa S. (T-17) and Khalin Joshi (T-35) were the only other Indians who were able to make the cut in Nairobi.

Bhullar’s performance in Kenya is his best-ever finish on the European Tour since his victory at the Fiji International last August. He is yet to miss a cut in the 2019 season (from seven starts), commencing with his T-40 finish at the Australian PGA Championship last December.

Prior to his week in Kenya, Bhullar played across the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar) where his best finish (T-27) came at the $1.75 million Oman Open (February 28-March 3).
