Tata Steel hosts PGTI’s (Professional Golf Tour of India) 2nd successive ₹ 1.5 crore purse event in Jamshedpur right after the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational presented by TAKE in Chandigarh last week which also offered ₹ 1.5 crore. After players have completed four events of ₹ 30 lac and one ₹ 40 lac tournament this season, these two season ending “majors” are providing a much needed boost to player earnings for 2020 which has been a lean year by any standards. .

All eyes will be on red-hot 21-year-old Karandeep Kochhar, who currently leads the PGTI Order of Merit with  total earnings of ₹ 33,50,680. He is trailed by Bangalore’s Udayan Mane on ₹ 19,24,150, who, like Kochhar has  two  wins and a runner-up finishes  in 2020.

The event will be highlighted by the presence of PGA Tour regular Anirban Lahiri,  four time European Tour winner, SSP Chawrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar, who has nine Asian Tour titles to his name.

The 72 hole tournament is being played on 2 Golf Courses.  Rounds 1 & 2 will be played with 18 Holes each on Golmuri & Beldih Golf Courses. Rounds 3 & 4 will be split with the Front 9 on Golmuri and back 9 on Beldih.

For players, it’s a welcome chance to boost earnings considering the year has seen only a total of 7 domestic events along with the postponement of the three major international tour events including the lucrative US$1.75 Million Hero Indian Open as well as the US$ 300,000 Classic Championship and US$400,000 Panasonic Open on the Asian Tour.
