20-year-old Haryana golfer Diksha Dagar won on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and starred as her team finished on top at the US$ 1mn Aramco Team Series in London, England.

The 3 member team jointly earned US$ 150,000, making it $50,000 (₹37.2 lakhs) for Diksha, the biggest cheque of her career till date.

Diksha partnered with the German pro duo of Olivia Cowan and Sarina Schmidt and was joined by an amateur, Andrew Kelsey in the new,  innovative team format.

On the individual front, Diksha shot 75-70-69 (5-under 214) to finish tied-12th, the last two rounds being the best on her team and she also birdied 3 of her last 4 holes in the final round to be the team hero.

While talking about her win, Diksha said, “Feels great to be back on track, I wanted to be on. I can say life is much more tough than it looks for women golfers from India. Appreciate the support I am getting, as without it, nothing is possible. I am nothing but a reflection of the support system behind me.”

“I would like to thank Hero Moto Corp, ASK, Athletic Drive, my family and family friends, and also my team-mates Olivia and Sarina, two most amazing girls from Germany.”

Other Indians in the field included Tvesa Malik and Astha Madan. Tvesa led her own team ‘Team Malik’ to a ninth place finish at 33-under, while she finished individually tied-45th with scores of 76-74-72 (3-over 222).

Astha Madan played for team Dimmock, which finished 24th at 24-under par.

Vani Kapoor will join these three in Finland to compete at the US$ 240,000 Gant Ladies Open from July 15-17.
