Pawan Munjal, Chairman, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp, who is also the biggest sponsor of golf in India, won top honours as Business Leader of the Year at the Economic Times Award of Corporate Excellence 2020 held virtually on Feb.4th, 2021.
Mr Munjal’s love for sports is well known and golf has a special corner of his heart, which is evident through his sponsorship of the US$ 1.75 mn Hero Indian Open for the past 15 years and the US$ 500,000 Hero Women’s Indian Open on the Ladies European Tour besides the entire Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour of India. Overseas Hero sponsors the US$ 3.5mn Hero World Challenge in Bahamas on the PGA Tour where Tiger Woods plays host to a handful of the world’s best players. On the European Tour, Hero sponsored the US$ 1.2mn Hero Open (July 30-Aug.02 in 2020), played in Birmingham, England.
