The highly anticipated 13th DGC Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Tournament 2023, sponsored by USHA, is set to commence tomorrow at the iconic Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi. This prestigious three-day event, scheduled from July 19th to July 21st, will feature 100 talented golfers between the ages of 8 and 21. Players will engage in a challenging 18-hole match each day, taking place across the renowned Lodhi and Peacock Courses.
USHA, with its longstanding partnership spanning over three decades, is proud to support the Delhi Golf Club, showcasing its unwavering dedication to fostering the growth and development of golf in India. To mark the beginning of the tournament, the first tee-off will be ceremoniously performed by DGC Club Champion Pratap Atwal, who also holds the title of Walter Locke Matchplay champion.
As an ultimate test of skill, focus, and determination, the tournament will witness the participation of the most promising young golfers, including renowned talents such as Sharanya Agarwal from New Jersey, USA (handicap-1), Kashika Mishra (handicap-2), Chaitanya Pandey (the youngest Indian winner of European US Kids 2019), and Sandeep Kadian (Winner DGC Juniors/Sub-Juniors Golf Tournament 2022), among others.
In a remarkable move towards inclusivity, the Delhi Golf Club has generously waived the entry fees for 30 underprivileged junior golfers. This gesture includes 15 caddies from DGC, 7 from village Jindali (supported by the Golf Foundation), 8 from Ultimate Foundation (Golden Greens), and one from Golmuri Golf Club.
Expressing enthusiasm for the event, Komal Mehra, Head of Sports Initiatives and Associations, shared, “Our enduring partnership with the Delhi Golf Club holds a special place in our hearts, as it highlights our shared commitment to nurturing young talent. Witnessing the growing number of young participants in these tournaments, who go on to achieve success not just in India but also on an international level, is truly inspiring. We eagerly anticipate witnessing exceptional talent unfold over the next three days.”
