Following her victory in Kenya last week, Aditi Ashok, continued her fine run of form, shooting 69-71-72 (7-under 212) to finish third at the US$ 480,000 Lalla Meryem Cup at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam (Blue Course) in Morocco on the Ladies European Tour.
She earned US$ 29,000 (₹24 lakhs) for her efforts and after the first two events, leads the LET money list.
Diksha Dagar, the other Indian in the field, shot 81-77 (12-over 158) to miss the cut by four-strokes. However, she was the victim of unfortunate circumstances because Egypt Air lost her baggage, forcing her to use a rental set during the tournament.
The tour will now head to Saudi Arabia to play its marquee event, the US$ 5mn Saudi Ladies International from Feb. 16-19. Many of the best players in the women’s game will make their 2023 season debut in Saudi, including World No. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand, long hitting American Lexi Thompson, Thailand’s sensational Atthaya Thitikul and Korea’s In Gee Chun. In all, 13 major winners have entered.
Competing in one of the richest tournaments in the women’s gane, the 120-player field will feature 60 Ladies European Tour players, 50 from the top 300 in the Rolex Rankings and 10 sponsor invites.
