Aditi Ashok and Thai golfer Pajaree Anannarukarn played as a team for the third consecutive year in the US$2.7 million Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational held at Midland CC in Michigan and did well to shoot a final round 63 to finish 29th after opening with rounds of 70-66-73.
Their best finish as a pair in this event was in 2021, when they finished third. Last year they finished 24th.
The bond between Ashok and Anannurukam extends beyond the golf course as they have been close friends since they met at a junior golf tournament in Thailand in 2014. Their friendship helps their on-course chemistry. They also complement each other on the course, as Annarukam is known for her long-hitting abilities while Ashok is known for her accuracy and excellent putting.
The event was won by the team of Cheyenne Knight and Elizabeth Szokol, who finished at 23-under, one shot better than Matilda Castren and Kelly Tan, who finished at 22-under.
Next week Ashok, who is having the best year of her career with over US$1.1 million in earnings so far in 2023 on the LPGA & LET Tours combined, will play in the fourth LPGA major of the season, the US$ 6.5mn Amundi Evian Championship from July 27-30 at Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
