The world-class Houghton Golf Course staged the 2025 Joburg Open

The Joburg Open, marking the conclusion of the International Swing on the DP World Tour, saw Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Veer Ahlawat secure tied-37th and tied-42nd finishes respectively, at the Houghton Golf Club in Johannesburg, South Africa, from March 6-9.

Sharma, a former champion of this event in 2018, began strongly with rounds of 66 and 65, positioning himself among the contenders at the halfway mark. However, he struggled over the weekend, posting scores of 74 and 72 to finish at three-under-par for the tournament.

Ahlawat, who earned his DP World Tour playing rights after topping the 2024 PGTI Rankings, carded a brilliant second-round 63 that helped him comfortably make the cut. He followed it up with rounds of 72 and 70, finishing one stroke behind Sharma at two-under-par in a tie for 42nd.

It was Scotland’s Calum Hill who emerged as the winner after a dramatic three-man playoff against South Africans Jacques Kruyswijk and Shaun Norris. Hill fired a final-round 62 to set the clubhouse lead at 14-under-par, with Kruyswijk (66) and Norris (70) matching his total.

The DP World Tour now takes a brief pause before shifting to the Asian Swing, starting with the Porsche Singapore Classic at Laguna National Golf Resort Club from March 20-23, followed by the much-awaited Hero Indian Open at DLF Golf & Country Club from March 27-30.
