Bhatia continues to impress on the PGA Tour

22-year-old Indian American Akshay Bhatia, continued to make waves as he climbed to his career-best 15th on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup rankings after a Tied 5th finish at the US$ 20mn Travelers Championship last week which coupled with his win at the Valero Texas Open in April, has boosted him in the rankings.

Bhatia entered the final round tied with eventual winner, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in 2nd place and eventually finished 4 strokes out of the playoff between Scheffler and Tom Kim.

The other Indian American who has made a huge mark on the PGA Tour in the last 3 years is 26-year-old Sahith Theegala, who has made 15 cuts in 18 appearances and currently ranks 8th in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Both Akshay and Theegala being ranked in the top 30 virtually guarantees them a spot at the FedEx Cup playoffs in September. It will be the first time there are two players of Indian origin in the lucrative three-tournament playoff series.

Bhatia was a teenage phenomenon, ranked the top junior in America at 17 years of age and famously passed up on playing college golf and turned pro right after high school.
