Similar to Aditi, Anirban Lahiri also had to recover from COVID contracted in May while on the PGA Tour. He too lost distance off the tee, losing body mass and taking time to recuperate from the virus but managed to shoot 67-72-68-72 (5-under 279) to finish tied-42nd, in a very low scoring tournament as the Kasumigaseki course was in perfect condition and winds were mild at best. Anirban got off to a solid start but after that couldn’t make the putts needed to sustain the momentum.

Lahiri automatically qualified for the Olympics as the best-ranked Indian on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). Following his Tokyo invitation, Lahiri celebrated with a tied-3rd at the US$3.5mn Barbasol Championship in Kentucky, his best finish ever on the PGA Tour and after Tokyo reached 264th in the rankings.

Lahiri has returned to his home in Florida and will now be seen in action at the US$ 6.4mn Wyndham Championship from August 12-15 in North Carolina.
