Delhi is set to redefine its sports landscape with the upcoming Dwarka Golf Course, an 18-hole, 7,377-yard facility built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at a cost of ₹250 crore. Touted as India’s longest golf course, the project spans 158 acres in Sector 24, Dwarka, and is expected to be fully operational by April next year.
In a move to make golf more inclusive, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announced a pay-and-play model, eliminating the need for steep membership fees often associated with the sport. “Golf has been perceived as a rich man’s game, but the pay-and-play option allows everyone to experience it,” Saxena said during the course’s inauguration.
The course features the country’s longest driving range at 375 yards, now open for use, alongside four lakes and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The clubhouse, expected to be completed within six months, will include 11 suites, a swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, lecture halls, and a training academy aimed at nurturing budding talent.
Additionally, the course boasts North Shore SLT grass for fairways—a first in India—and advanced water conservation systems, including a computerised irrigation system, underground drainage, and stormwater recharge wells.
Saxena emphasised the golf course’s potential to enhance sports tourism in Delhi, citing examples of international players who travel to Gurgaon for month-long stays. Designed to meet global standards, the Dwarka Golf Course aims to attract international players while also introducing new talent to the sport.
The DDA, which currently operates 17 sports complexes, two public golf courses, and 17 swimming pools, adds this landmark project to its portfolio. The Dwarka Golf Course, expected to be fully operational within 6 months, will serve as both a recreational hub and a professional training ground.
With the driving range already open and the clubhouse on track for completion, the Dwarka Golf Course has cracked the doors open to a new destination for all golfers in the city.
