The Asian Tour is set to return from an 18-month hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic after the golf circuit announced it will stage two tournaments in Thailand before the end of the year. The Tour, which stopped play in March 2020, will hold the US$ 1mn Blue Canyon Championship on November 25-28 and the US$ 1mn Laguna Phuket Championship on December 2-5.
As of now Indian stars – Shiv Kapur, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa S., SSP Chawrasia, Jeev Milkha Singh, Honey Baisoya, Olympian Udayan Mane, Khalin Joshi, Aadil Bedi, Karandeep Kocchar, Veer Ahlawat, Chiragh Kumar, and Khsitij Naveed Kaul have already entered their names for the much awaited tournament.
In January, following the Christmas and New Year breaks, the Tour is planning to stage two more tournaments in Singapore over consecutive weeks. All four tournaments will be broadcast live on television with further details to be announced soon.
If all goes well, India hopes to host one or two Asian Tour events in February / March 2022 including the Hero Indian Open, which is jointly sanctioned with the European Tour.
