In only her second start in her first year on the 2025 Ladies European Tour (LET), 18-year-old Avani Prashanth of Bangalore finished a creditable tied-13th at the Australian Women’s Classic, held from March 14-16 at the Coffs Harbour Golf Club in Australia. A brilliant final-round 65 carried her to a 3-under 207 total, placing her six shots behind winner Manon De Roey of Belgium.
Avani said, “I had struggled with reading the greens the past two days, but today I finally figured it out. I made several long putts, which was necessary given the firm greens and windy conditions. I’m happy with my round and looking forward to the next event.”
Among other Indian players, 20-year-old Pranavi Urs of Mysuru, playing her 2nd season on the LET, finished tied-65th with a final-round 72. The experienced former LET winner Diksha Dagar, 24, who had a strong LET finish earlier this season, missed the cut.
The recent performances of India’s emerging female golfers on the Ladies European Tour (LET) highlight a promising future for the sport in the country, with 20-year-old Pranavi Urs and 24-year-old Diksha being established players on tour.
Diksha began the 2025 season with a runner-up finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, narrowly missing out on the title after a playoff against England’s Cara Gainer. This performance earned her a nomination for the LET’s Player of the Month for February 2025.
In the 2024 season, Pranavi secured a solo third-place finish at the Andalucía Open, marking her best performance on the tour and placing her 17th in the LET Order of Merit as the highest-ranked Indian on the LET.
She also finished tied for third at the Dormy Open in Sweden. In the current season, Urs finished tied for 62nd at the PIF Saudi Ladies International in February 2025.
This positive reflection is a growing trend of Indian women making their mark in international golf as these players continue to gain experience and confidence and inspire new generations of golfers in the country.
The LET continues its Australian swing with the 3rd and final WPGA Tour co-sanctioned event of the season – The Ford Women’s NSW Open at the Wollongong Golf Club, to be played from March 20-23.
