India’s No.1 ranked lady Amateur, 17-year-old Avani Prashanth from Bangalore recorded a creditable tied 2nd place at The Royal Junior Golf Tournament, hosted by the Japan Golf Association at the Royal Golf Club, Ibaraki, Japan with rounds of 74-74-75 on the record 7000 yard long course.
The third edition of the Royal Juniors is also sanctioned by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) and attracts top junior boys and girls under 18 years from the region.
The other Indian girls playing the event – Sinjini Mukherjee from Kolkota and Prarthana Khanna of New Delhi were not able to cope with the course length but gained valuable international exposure.
The Indian boys participating Anshul Mishra, Rakshit Dahiya and Prince Baisla also struggled as they played an 8000 yard course which is longer than any course seen even on the professional tours.
The tournament saw participation from 90 junior golfers, 45 each in boys and girls categories.
