Avani Prashanth of Bangalore who turned 16 last week shot 75-67-71 (3-under 213) to win the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Western India Ladies and Junior Golf Championship at Kalhaar Blues & Greens by a margin of 10-strokes.
This is right after Avani completed a historic double at the National Games at Kensville GC in the same city winning the Women’s Individual title in a field which featured several of India’s top lady pro players and winning the ladies team title for Karnataka.
As Avani now looks forward to the US$400,000 Hero Women’s Indian Open at the DLF Golf & Country Club , her performance on the super challenging course against an elite international professional field will be watched with much interest.
