Avani Prashanth is set to compete in LPGA Q-School later this month

Bangalore’s 17-year-old Avani Prashanth, the highest-ranked Indian on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) at 54th, carded rounds of 71-71-72-76 to finish tied-16th at 3-over-par 290 in the Junior PGA Championship at the prestigious Congressional Country Club in Washington, DC, which has previously hosted four majors, including three U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship.

14-year-old Kartik Singh, from Delhi, the only Indian to qualify in the boys’ category, shot rounds of 76-70 to make the 36-hole cut, but a subsequent 72 led to him missing the 54-hole cut by two strokes. The event is open to juniors who have not reached their 19th birthday, giving Kartik and Avani more opportunities to play in the future.

The tournament featured 156 boys and 156 girls from over 14 different countries, including Canada, Taiwan, India, Guatemala, Ireland, China, Italy, Czechia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Thailand, UAE, South Africa, and the USA.
