17-year-old Avani Prashanth of Bangalore missed making the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur after shooting rounds of 76-73 in her 2nd appearance at the event.
Avani is India’s best-ranked amateur at 52nd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), and in 2023 won a title on the LET Access Series Pro Tour in Europe.
The cut line was set at 3-over par, where only 30 of the 72 invited girls survived the second round, played in tough conditions.

In Round 2 Avani made a comeback, with a round of 1 over while the collective score of the field was 236 over par, which indicates that while she struggled on a day with favourable scoring conditions, she performed admirably on a challenging day.

Meanwhile, Megha Ganne, a 19-year-old golfer of Indian descent from New York, currently in her second year at Stanford University, shot 70-74-76 (4-over 220) to finish tied for 20th in her fourth appearance at the tournament. Previously, she has finished T-9th in 2023 and missed the cuts in 2022 and 2021.
The first 36 holes are contested over two days on the Island and Bluff Nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.. The final round takes place at Augusta National.
The winner of the tournament receives invitations to all four women’s majors and is considered the most coveted invitation in women’s amateur golf worldwide.
