Sandeep Sandhu – Overall Winner at the Pune edition in January with Mr Ningappa Narwade – Head of Sales for Apollo Tyres, Pune

The AVT Champions Tour, which is a 36 hole stroke play event open to competitive players aged 50 and above is all set to conclude its 2021-2022 season at the Classic Golf Resort in Gurgaon. 

The tournament has attracted several past winners including Sanjeev Mehera of RCGC who won the AVT Kolkata Leg in November 2022, Sandeep Sandhu of Chandigarh GC and Manish Jaitha of Pune who finished winner and runner up at Pune at the January 2022 edition and Ajai Sirohi who took the title in November 2020 at ITC. The Bangalore winner David D Souza from January 2021 is unable to participate due to other commitments. The favourite to win the season title is Sandeep Sandhu who has a 1st and 2nd place finish to his credit in the past 3 starts. 

Among the other prominent players competing in the keenly contested event are former Asian Games gold medalists Lakshman Singh and Rishi Narain, former All-India Senior’s Champions Gangesh Khaitan & Vijay Kumar. 

The tournament has age group prizes also on gross stroke play over 36 holes in categories 50 plus, 55 plus, 60, 65 and 70 plus. 

In all, over 110 golfers from across the country will be competing in the tournament, which is scheduled for March 15-17.
