The 12th annual Duke of Edinburgh – Christel House Charity Golf Tournament being held for the first time at KGA, Bangalore, saw 96 golfers tee off to raise funds to support education of impoverished children in Bangalore.
The tournament which once again presented a cheque of Rs 48 lacs to Christel House has been recognised as one of the best charity golf events in the world and the two winners each year are invited to play in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Cup International Charity Golf World Finals in London. The trip includes a round at the private golf course of the Royal Household inside the grounds of Windsor Castle and a black tie sit down champagne dinner with a member of the Royal Family in the Windsor Castle ballroom.
As usual, the tournament saw the participation of the who’s who of the business and corporate world who unite each year for this cause. Several past winners, who have experienced the dinner at Windsor Castle’s State Ballroom, were present and shared their incredible experience with other participants.
At the awards ceremony, two graduates from Christel House school – both working for MNC’s and supporting their parents spoke in flawless English to explain how the school changed their families’ futures forever.
Results
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup World Finalists winning pair are Keshav Murthy and Nitin Jajoo who scored 40 and 37 points respectively playing off 8 and 9 handicaps respectively for a whopping 77 point total including 6 points on their final hole !
Giving them a close fight were the past winning duo of Thimmaiah and Raj CM who ended with 74 points.
