To continue the popularity of the celebrity head to head one day charity matches played last year featuring Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson , The 5th edition of The Match will feature major champions and fan favourites Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau on November 26 in Las Vegas.

The Match 5 will be played over 12 holes as opposed to 18 – perhaps to capture viewer interest in a 2 hour period. Koepka in a previous interview had said that “golf gets boring after 12 holes”. Presumably he was referring to TV viewers.
The Match hopes to capitalise on Brooks & Bryson’s famous feud which has fuelled tremendous interest on social media. The US$40mn social media bonus pool announced by the PGA Tour has encouraged them in recent times.
Prior to the Ryder Cup, fans at tournaments started teasing DeChambeau by calling ‘Brooksie’ at the events and the PGA Tour had to announce a new ruling stating that yelling Brooksie on course would get fans escorted out of the venue. Ryder Cup team captain Steve Stricker had to answer media questions about the players’ relationship. However the camaraderie during the Ryder Cup and the US’ landslide victory seemed to signal the end of the rivalry and their feud on social media.
DeChambeau has already been part of an earlier edition of The Match. He, along with American football superstar Aaron Rodgers, competed against Phil Mickelson and 6 time SuperBowl champion Tom Brady. Koepka will be playing for the first time.
