27-year-old Bengalurean Chikkarangappa shot rounds of 69-65-69-65 (20-under 268) to win his 14th title on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) at the Tata Steel Players Championship Panchkula narrowing the gap to just Rs 2.6 lacs between him and PGTI ranking leader Karandeep Kochhar.

Chikka’s season earnings total is now ₹41,83,180 and leader Karandeep Kochhar of Chandigarh is at ₹44,48,340.

Chikka started the final day three behind Gurgaon’s Veer Ahlawat, who led after Rds 2 & 3 but his 7-under 65 which featured 9 birdies, gave him an eventual two stroke victory.

Yuvraj Sandhu, playing in his home city of Chandigarh finished 3rd with scores of 72-67-66-67 (16-under 272).

Chikkarangappa collected ₹8,08,250/- for his win and after his third place the previous week at the Telangana Open in Hyderabad, seems to be finding form at the right time.

Chikka had caddied for Anirban Lahiri at the Tokyo Olympics and perhaps is inspired to qualify himself for Paris 2024.

The tour is now headed to J&K for the first time in 14 years for the J&K Open at the magnificent Royal Springs GC from Sep. 15-18.
