18 Indians had originally entered the US$ 1mn Singapore International on the Asian Tour two weeks ago, but six had had to withdraw because of testing positive before the event started and one had to miss the final round..
Three players including Gaganjeet Bhullar tested positive before flying out from India, whereas SSP Chawrasia, Aman Raj and Manu Gandas tested positive on landing in Singapore and had to quarantine for a week and withdraw from the first event. Ajeetesh Sandhu, who was tied for 25th after shooting 70-75-80, had to withdraw after testing positive prior to his final round.
Those who quarantined the first week could play in the Singapore Open if they cleared their tests, and for those who couldn’t play at all and had to quarantine, it turned out to be a disappointing outing with no pay cheque and lots of bills to pay !!
