Raghav Chugh stands first in school history with a career stroke average of 72.73

Raghav Chugh of Delhi, one of India’s top amateur golfers, playing his 4th year on the college team at Rice University, Texas underlined his good form by finishing 8th at a college event in Texas with rounds of 68-70-70.

As he enters his final season, Chugh holds several records at Rice. He ranks first in career stroke average (72.73) and average vs. par (1.09).

In 2023, Chugh was recognized as a Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar and earned First Team All-Conference USA honours after leading Rice with a 72.25 stroke average. His standout performance last season included a runner-up finish at the Colorado Invitational.

Another Indian who has had great success playing college golf at the University of South Florida in America is Shubham Jaglan, who like Raghav, grew up at Delhi Golf Club.

Last week, Jaglan carded rounds of 70-73-70 to register a tied-12th finish at Windon Memorial Classic in Illionois.

Unfortunately, neither of the two could represent India this week in Japan at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship since they are committed to college events. The same will apply to the Asia-Pacific Team Amateur in Vietnam or Nomura Cup next week.
