Rashid’s last Asian Tour win came in Nov. 2014 at the Chiangmai Classic, where he beat Thanyakon Khrongpa of Thailand and Jyoti Randhawa by a shot for his second title on the tour. He came close to winning on the Asian Tour last year at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters, where he lost to Chan Shih-Chang on the second extra-hole in September. Before that, he finished runner-up at the Mandiri Indonesia Open, two shots behind Gaganjeet Bhullar.
An 11-time winner on the PGTI, Rashid’s last win on the domestic tour was at the Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship in Chandigarh in May 2019. This helped him finish atop the PGTI’s Order of Merit and made him a strong contender for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
However, the Tokyo Olympics were postponed due to COVID-19 and Udayan Mane moved past Khan in the rankings and earned the right to represent India at the prestigious event.
